Sat 21 2016 & Sat 13 May, Oakengates Theatre @ the place
Local dance schools and performers come together for a memorable and touching concert in celebration of Pat, a beloved and integral member of local theatre.
Oakengates Theatre at The Place are delighted to be hosting this Musical Theatre Tribute for Pat Brown. This showcase event is to remember and honor a lady that was well known and respected by everyone that had the pleasure of meeting her. Pat’s daughter-in-law, Kelly came up with the idea; and John Brown, Pat’s husband, thought is would be a truly wonderful way to remember his wife and her love of dance and musical theatre. Oakengates Theatre was very much Pat’s second home through her commitment to helping young children and adults with their passion for dance and musical theatre.
Pat worked at Oakengates Theatre for over15 years as the Wardrobe Mistress for each year’s Pantomimes and supporting the yearly Youth Summer Project led by Telford and Wrekin Council. Pat’s attention to detail was second to none and each performer that worked with Pat, has nothing but admiration for this lady, her dedication, love and encouragement to simply ‘have fun, enjoy your moment and always smile!’
The show will consist of many performers from Telford that Pat worked with and helped throughout their journey in this field. The showcase will include dance; ballet, contemporary, tap, modern and singing from some of Pat’s favourite musical numbers.
Pat’s son Christopher Brown said ‘I want to create a legacy for my mum by offering a Scholarship Award. The Scholarship Award will be given annually to contribute towards a year’s tuition at a dance/stage school for child who loves performing. I want to do this to enable my Mum’s name to live on and she would be so proud to be associated with a legacy that helped a young performer grow in their love of the performing arts. The funding will be raised through various events throughout the year and an application process will be arranged for young boys and girls from the age of 4 years old to apply. I will be launching this initiative at the show’.
The show will be a celebration of Pat’s life and remembering her in the most appropriate way through dance and musical theatre.
Our thanks to all performers, dance schools and principles that have freely given up their time to support this wonderful event to remember ‘Our Pat’.
